"I have treasured the words of Your mouth more than my necessary food." ~Job 23:12

About Us

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. ~ Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

We started this blog to encourage one another to put God first, not food. If you have found us, we believe that God led you here. We hope this site blesses you as much as it has blessed us. :)

JOY'S STORY

I have struggled with my weight most of my life, since I was sexually abused by a stranger at a park when I was 8 years old. I began to eat my emotions at that point, but was active enough that I didn't put on serious weight until I was halfway through college (softball, cheerleading, cross country, aerobics, walking everywhere). As a result I learned poor coping mechanisms, and stuffed away all of my emotions. I came to Christ when I was 24, but never gave any of this over to God. I just kept eating my emotions. I'm now 46 years old, and this past year I have gotten closer to God than ever before, as He has gently led me into acknowledging my sin.

Just a few weeks ago, I finally gave up on running away from the Lord. I confessed my struggles with idolatry (putting anything -- in my case food -- above God) to my church, and publicly repented of this sin. Praise God Sandy spoke up and said that she had the same problem, and we became accountability partners. This blog is our attempt to help each other and to help others as well. It is meant to be encouraging to anyone who is struggling with addiction/the sin of idolatry, especially as it relates to food.
